Collection: Vega Sicilia: New Releases

Unico is undoubtedly one of the worlds greatest wines and has a near limitless ability to age. I’ve enjoyed bottles from the 1950’s which were so fresh, you’d think they were more like 30 years old, never mind 70! So whilst this latest release has spent a whopping 10 years aging at Vega Sicilia’s cellars already, it is just a baby. By the time this reaches full maturity, it is likely going to be very difficult to track down, not to mention more expensive, so it is always worth snapping up on release.

Vega Sicilia's Reserva Especial is a near-unique multi-blend vintage too, this time consisting of 2011, 2012 and 2013. Kept back for extended aging, it brings all the best elements of the three years and marries them to near-perfection in a glass.

Whilst the Unico and Reserva are the most famous and sought after, the Valbuena should not be overlooked, sporting 96 point and 95 point scores. Aged for less time, Valbuena is designed to be enjoyed in the (comparative) short term of 5-20 years (versus the Unico’s 5-100!) and so brings a different insight into this incredible domaine and terroir.

Available in 2025.
