2022 CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET ROUGE, DOMAINE FONTAINE-GAGNARD

Yes, a red. We know the village for its top-notch white wine, but historically it was more highly regarded for the quality of its reds.

Céline Fontaine and her husband Fred Robert (who was formerly at Armand Rousseau), make one of the village’s best Pinot Noirs. The vines are organic, only 20% of the oak is new, and the fruit is dark and fresh - this is as good as it gets for under £40 a bottle.
