There are many contenders for Burgundy’s rising star, but perhaps the accolade should go not to a grower, but to Aligoté itself. A grape variety once overlooked, it’s now a darling of Burgundy’s warmer vintages, favoured even by the likes of Domaine d'Auvenay. After tasting Edouard Delaunay’s Bourgogne Aligoté La Vigne de Monsieur Feuillat, we loved it so much we moved instantly to buy the entire production

Priced at just £102 per case of six in bond, this single-vineyard gem exemplifies why Aligoté is having its renaissance. Our co-founder Nathan and a group of Honest Grapes Club Members tasted this wine at the estate and were bowled over at its classiness and quality at this humble price. Previous vintages have also garnered critical acclaim. French publication Bettane Desseauve raved about its character, declaring it “a thousand times more interesting than the mediocre famous villages.” The 2020 vintage meanwhile scored a hefty 93 points from Tim Atkin and has been a firm favourite with our members ever since.

The 2023 vintage, however, takes things to another level. With the domaine under the meticulous guidance of Capucine Hauron, a winemaker known for her pursuit of precision and elegance, the result is a wine of incredible focus and charm. It reflects Delaunay’s meteoric rise to the front rank of Burgundy (I learned recently that Delaunay's 2020 Corton-Charlemagne was served at Macron's presidential dinner!), and it’s especially rewarding to offer such a remarkable wine at an equally remarkable price. Good luck finding a better value white from 2023.
