Last year’s Clemens Busch offer was a roaring success, driven in no small part by Stuart Pigott’s effusive James Suckling report, awarding scores up to a perfect 100 points.

Anne Krebiehl MW has now reviewed the vintage for Vinous, waxing lyrical and awarding scores of up to 98 points. Her top-rated wine is her joint highest-scoring Mosel/Saar/Ruwer dry Riesling of the entire 2024 vintage and notably, she has not yet tasted two of the estate’s true giants: Raffes and Felsterrasse.

Beyond the dry wines, there is simply no rational reason not to buy the Spätlese, which comes in at 97 points from Vinous and just £120 per six-bottle case. It is exceptional quality for the price and very possibly the best QPR wine we’ve ever offered.

Clemens and Rita Busch have been pioneers of organic and biodynamic viticulture since 1984, farming the vertiginous slopes of the Marienburg in Pünderich. Every parcel is vinified separately, resulting in an extraordinary range of wines from elite Grosse Lage vineyards. Clemens produces around 30 wines here, each a precise expression of site and slate.

If you know Clemens Busch, this is a chance to secure one of his strongest releases yet. If you don’t, this is about as good an introduction as Mosel Riesling gets.
