Collection: Clos I Terrasses

The story of Clos I Terrasses is almost the story of priorat itself! Daphne Glorian was one of the original pioneers who thought the old Garnacha vines might make some good wine, and joined her friends Alvaro Palacios (Ermita) and Rene Barbier (Clos Mogador) in 1989. Fast-forward to today and Clos Erasmus is arguably the region's most iconic wine!

The key grape here is Garnacha (Grenache), farmed biodynamically, which is one of the few varieties that continues to be productive at 70+ years old, enabling old vine wines of great complexity that maintain their vivacity. We were one of the first UK wine clubs to support Clos Erasmus, long before it became the powerhouse brand it is today, and the wines have consistently been favourites with Club Members.

The Wines

Clos Erasmus is the flagship wine from Daphne and winemaker Esther Nin and is truly extraordinary, with a globally unrivalled 97.8 point WA average over the last decade and a half (that’s higher than Lafite, Petrus, Screaming Eagle and Romanée Conti, to name a few!) Less than 3,000 bottles are made in each vintage, yet despite its limited production & incredible quality, Clos Erasmus remains one of the most consistent and affordable fine wines available on the market.

We're also huge fans of Laurel, the estate's second wine. Make no mistake though… the quality of this fruit still exceeds many other Grand Vin, outscoring many titans of Priorat. Many of the team grab a case for themselves in fact!
