Welcome to Domaine du Bicheron, nestled in the southern heart of Burgundy, where vineyards paint the landscape in vibrant hues. This estate, covering the enchanting towns of Péronne, Azé, Saint-Maurice-de-Satonnay, and Viré-Clessé, is a testament to tradition, family heritage, and sustainable viticulture.
Domaine du Bicheron's story is one of enduring family ties and dedication to the land. Passed down through generations, the estate's history dates back to 1889 when it began as a modest 3-hectare vineyard. Over time, it expanded, merging the art of winemaking with the land's rich potential. From Antoine Rousset to Georges, and onward to Daniel, Denis, and Geneviève, each generation has nurtured the domaine's growth. Today, the fifth generation is poised to continue this legacy of winemaking excellence!
The Wine
The estate boasts 53 hectares of vineyards, where Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Aligoté vines thrive under the Burgundian sun. The terroir is diverse, from the clay-limestone plateaux, the hallmark of Mâcon, to the siliceous soils of Viré-Clessé.
Respecting the land that has nurtured them, Denis and Geneviève embarked on their winemaking journey in 1993. In 2018, Domaine du Bicheron, one of the Mâconnais' largest estates, earned the High Environmental Value (HVE) certification, a testament to their commitment to eco-conscious viticulture. The vineyards harmonise with the environment, promoting biodiversity and preserving the region's natural beauty.
Quentin, Jonas Rousset, and Gauthier Delbecq, have built upon their family's tradition, embarked on their winemaking journeys in 2019. Their collective expertise spans commercial, viticulture, and more, complementing each other seamlessly.
