We were aware that we had stumbled upon something truly special when we introduced Anne and Hervé Sigaut to our collection, after having struggled to find a Chambolle-Musigny specialist that really excites us. We aren't the only ones to be thrilled... there are some very impressive scores and great notes from Jasper Morris & Allen Meadows too! The sell-out sensations live up to their reputation with each release.
Anne and Hervé Sigaut kindly hosted Tom and Nathan one Friday evening to indulge in their well-delineated, elegantly perfumed, sweet pastille-fruited set of delicious wines. Which they were so glad they did after experiencing such a brilliant collection. One to remember!
The Wine
Being specialists in Chambolle Musigny, Anne and Hervé possess an innate understanding of the vines, resulting in well-defined wines that are elegantly fragrant and bursting with sweet fruit flavours. From the village wines to the senior crus, they have captured the signature floral and sensuous character of Chambolle with remarkable elegance and finesse. Grapes are farmed using biodynamic methods, 100% destemmed, and the wines are unfiltered and unfined.
From the village wine right up to the senior crus, the domaine has managed to capture Chambolle’s signature floral and sensuousness, and there is often an extra layer of hedonic, plush, and suavely ripe red fruits (and a touch of black fruits too). The grapes are biodynamically farmed, 100% destemmed, and the wines unfiltered and unfined.
Both the Village Chambolle & Lieu Dit Bussières are brilliant wines in their own right, though the real fun begins with the 1er Crus. The Chatelots & Sentiers are often rated as "Outstanding" by Allen Meadows, whilst the breathtaking Fuées has on occasion been rated by Jasper Morris into the mid-90s - the same score he has given to the iconic (and very expensive) Roumier Les Cras which sits adjacently to Anne & Hervé's plot! If like any sensible Burgundy drinker, you have a soft spot for Chambolle, you will love these wines.
