Conti Marone Cinzano is rooted in a long Italian family history of viticulture and spirits that dates back to the 16th century. The project is led by Santiago Marone Cinzano, part of the tenth generation of a family once synonymous with the famed Cinzano vermouth brand. After decades of growing Sangiovese at estates such as Col d’Orcia and Argiano, Santiago launched Conti Marone Cinzano to bring the family name back to wine and to explore a site‑selection approach to Brunello di Montalcino, where the best parcels are chosen each year to express vintage character rather than relying on fixed vineyard designations.

The Wine

The estate comprises roughly 500 ha with about 100 ha planted to Sangiovese within the Brunello di Montalcino zone, and works with consultants like Dr. Donato Lanati on vineyard analysis and selection to navigate climatic unpredictability. The first wine under this label — Lot.1 Brunello di Montalcino — was launched from the 2019 vintage, reflecting this philosophy of choosing the best fruit each year and producing a small, distinctive expression of Brunello rooted in the estate’s varied terroir and generational knowledge.
