"Produced in very small quantities. Vibrant acidity weaves through the fruit as the tannins dissolve seamlessly into the background, creating a wine of effortless balance and depth."
Stewart Pryce, Honest Grapes Wine Club Manager

Always a pleasure to visit this Vosne-Romanée stalwart, whose holdings remain the closest in spirit and geography to the original Gros family estate, founded in 1830. Today the domaine spans 23 hectares, including the Clos des Réas, the only Premier Cru monopole in Vosne. All wines are fully destemmed, giving a clear through-line of purity, density and finely polished tannins across the range. Since 2022, the domaine has taken full control of its Grand Cru parcels, with significant replanting using massale selection and increased vine density.

Yields in 2024 were sharply reduced, contributing to the concentration and intensity seen throughout the reds.

What the critics say:

91-94/100Allen Meadows, Burghound

"An exuberantly spicy nose also features attractive spice and floral nuances on the cool aromas that derive mostly from the red side of the fruit spectrum. There is excellent delineation and an almost aggressive minerality to the equally dense flavors that terminate in a compact, serious and built-to-age finale. Like any competent example of Richebourg, this is going to require extended time in a bottle."

91-93/100Neal Martin, Vinous

"The 2024 Richebourg Grand Cru comprises four barrels this year. By some stretch this is the finest aromatics from Domaine Michel Gros with exuberant red fruit, briar, crushed stone and rose petals. The palate has a sorbet-like freshness on the entry. Still some new oak since this is being raised entirely in new wood, there is at least some depth and grip on the finish. It should gain a bit of girth by the time of bottling and drink well for up to 15 years."

OUR GROWERS

Domaine Michel Gros

The Gros family have been a dominant presence in Vosne-Romanée since 1830 and Michel, alongside sisters Anne and Anne-Françoise and brother Bernard, all of whom have eponymous domaines, represents the sixth generation.

Low yields, hand picking, total destemming and minimal racking are factors in the resultant style of Michel’s wines – supple and seductive.
