An action-packed, fast-paced tasting at Domaine Rapet this year. The 2024 vintage was defined by a good September but very small quantities. Sulphur is used only after malolactic fermentation, and the approach here remains resolutely traditional.
The wines show bright acidity, modest extraction and clarity of fruit rather than power. Whites lean towards green apple, fennel and mineral tension, while the reds favour crunch, florality and savoury detail. Nothing feels pushed, and several wines are clearly built for ageing rather than early charm.

"Light and fresh, the Vergelesses premier cru has that character winemakers call ‘crunchy’ (croquant), with high-toned red fruit, crisp acidity, and notes of saline minerals and flowers. The fruit is a bit closed initially, but opens on the palate, balancing the firm tannins and fresh acidity. The style of this recalls bygone years in its dynamic tension, but it should age gracefully for all of that character."
