The 2023 growing season at Taupenot Merme began with a mild winter, followed by moderate spring and summer temperatures, and avoided extreme heat spikes. Early budbreak in April, mid-blossom in June, and veraison by late July led to a harvest from September 11-25, following a cooler, rainy spell in late August. Despite a season marked by an overall water deficit, careful organic management and two green harvests in July produced a balanced crop.

Our note
The 2023 wines show moderate acidity with alcohol levels ranging from 12.3-13.6%, and phenolic ripeness reached across each cuvée. Reflecting a restrained, terroir-driven vintage, these wines lean towards elegance and subtle expression, rather than overt power.

"Cask sample. Mid ruby. Raspberry, cassis and blueberry on the nose and the palate. A riper, richer texture than the Bel Air, quite open and even exuberant. Medium-bodied, with fresh, zesty acidity. Fine, moderate tannins, too. À point, with balance and concentration."
"The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has a lifted bouquet of finely delineated rose petals, crushed strawberry and more crushed violet scents that emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied, quite floral and Vosne-like with filigreed tannins, a keen thread of acidity and a cohesive finish that lingers tenderly on the aftertaste. Wonderful."
"Despite stting on the southern side of Nuits, this wine always feels more like a northern Nuits cru in Romain's hands. The full body is encased in polished tannins and measured acidic tension. Black plums, bramble, bay leaf, musk and chimney smoke give this captivating depth. Romain says this is the first time that he's ever seen it so seamless at this stage. Truly delicious."
