In the safe hands of our dear friend Romain Taupenot, this Morey-based Domaine has become one of the leading lights in the Côte de Nuits, producing wines of irresistible depth, structure, freshness and complexity. This family-owned estate has been an emblem of excellence, marrying tradition with skilful winemaking to produce wines that reflect their vineyards' true character.

We have been fortunate enough to taste wines from Domaine Taupenot-Merme during all our EP tasting sessions and all we can say is an emphatic "WOW!" These are marvellous wines at the highest level of Burgundy, and it’s been a delight to share them with Club Members at various tastings over the years.

The Wine

From Gevrey-Chambertin's power to Chambolle-Musigny's finesse, every bottle captures the essence of its terroir. Most of his parcels are from some of the higher sites in Morey & Gevrey, and thus the fruit retains impressive acidity, yet with increased concentration and ripeness, so much so that many (including Jasper Morris & Neal Martin) are surprised to hear that Romain uses no whole bunches to achieve such incredible freshness and typicity in his wines!

Domaine Taupenot-Merme reveres the art of ageing. Their wines mature gracefully in oak barrels, evolving and revealing their intricate personalities. The Morey-Saint-Denis unfolds its lush fruit, while the Charmes-Chambertin embodies structured elegance.

They honour their heritage while embracing innovation. Domaine Taupenot-Merme looks to the future with an open mind, ensuring their wines continue to evolve without losing their core character.
