Resurrected by life-long Burgundy lover Mark O’Connell in 2011 and our dear friend Pierre Meurgey, Domaine Clos de la Chapelle is headquartered at the Chateau de Bligny, owned by Pierre and no less than Dominique Lafon. The talent behind the new Domaine is considerable, and the wines are already getting rave reviews from the likes of Allen Meadows (Burghound), Neal Martin & Jasper Morris.
We were so impressed by the wines after tasting the 2022s and were surprised to hear that they had little presence in the UK, so it is a real pleasure to offer these wines.
"On the village’s northern Bordeaux with Volnay, neighbour to 1er Cru Santenots Dessus, the soils here are dominated by gravelly limestone. Intense, focussed nose of beeswax, chopped nuts, manucca honey, stem ginger, fresh quince and toast, with herbal notes of sage, lemon thyme and wasabi. Palate is full of energy and nobility, good definition, quivers with salted lemon acidity, again herbal with old vine complexity and a finish that balances citrus and spice."

What the critics say:
"The 2022 Meursault Vignes Blanches is a new purchase for the Domaine on deeper soils on the Volnay side towards Santenots. The vines were planted in 1948, with a small portion re-grafted this year. The well-defined bouquet has touches of chalk infusing the citrus fruit. Tightly-coiled, but this has a lot to give down the line. The vibrant and tensile palate is lively and full of energy. Harmonious with a brisk and linear finish, this is a Village Cru punching at Premier Cru level. "
