Likened to Armand Rousseau by Neal Martin and one to watch, rising star Xavier Horiot's reclamation of Domaine Launay-Horiot must be one of the most remarkable stories in the Côte d’Or. These are absolutely up there with the best red Burgundies being produced in Pommard and Chambertin.
From a tiny 0.16ha parcel located next to the vines of Lalou Bize-Leroy (!), this is a serious, pedigreed Chambertin that expresses the terroir beautifully. The only downside is the tiny amount produced!

"Dense bright purple. The bouquet shows a better balance of ripeness, dark berries once again, but with a pleasing freshness throughout, and a firmer structure. The raspberries are more to the fore than the black cherries. A saline note at the finish. Interesting texture here as well as the quality of the fruit. Tasted Nov 2024 ****"
