About Astoria, Velere Prosecco Rosé Millesimato Extra Dry, Nv
This rosé Prosecco is a great example of Astoria’s bright, fruit-led style, with plenty of fresh red berry character on both the nose and palate.
Pale pink in the glass with a fine, lively mousse, it shows notes of strawberry and raspberry alongside a light floral touch. The palate is fresh and well balanced, with crisp acidity keeping it lifted and just a hint of sweetness on the finish. An easy, refreshing pink fizz that’s very hard not to like.
This is a wine designed for immediate consumption whilst the primary fruit is at its most vibrant. The strawberry and raspberry character will remain prominent for the first year, gradually softening and integrating over 18-24 months. Beyond two years, the fruit will begin to fade and the wine will lose its essential charm - drink it young and fresh.
Tasting Notes
AppearancePale salmon pink with a fine, persistent mousse and lively bubbles.
NoseFresh strawberry and raspberry lead the way, backed by delicate floral touches that add elegance. There's a clean, bright quality that speaks of careful fruit selection and gentle pressing.
PalateThe red berry character carries through beautifully, with crisp acidity providing excellent balance and lift. The mousse is creamy yet refreshing, and there's just enough residual sugar to round out the finish without overwhelming the fruit.
FinishClean and fresh with lingering berry flavours and a hint of sweetness.
Overall impressionAn easy, crowd-pleasing rosé Prosecco that delivers exactly what it promises.
Food Pairings
In Veneto, this style of pink fizz appears at every aperitivo hour, paired with cicchetti - small plates of baccalà mantecato on toast, tramezzini filled with prosciutto San Daniele, or simply good olives and Parmigiano-Reggiano. The locals also enjoy it with seafood risotto from the nearby Adriatic coast, where the wine's acidity cuts through the richness of butter and cheese whilst complementing the delicate fish flavours.
We think this wine would go well with
Serve well-chilled at 6-8°C in flutes or tulip glasses to preserve the mousse and concentrate the delicate aromas. No need to decant - pour directly from a chilled bottle and consume immediately for maximum freshness and bubble retention.
The vineyards sit in the rolling hills of Valdobbiadene and surrounding areas, where limestone-rich soils and cool morning mists create ideal conditions for Glera. The altitude and diurnal temperature variation help preserve the bright acidity that defines good Prosecco, whilst the well-draining soils concentrate the fruit flavours without losing freshness.
Prosecco DOC covers a vast area across Veneto and Friuli, producing the majority of Italy's sparkling wine using the tank method to preserve primary fruit character. Unlike the more prestigious Prosecco DOCG zones of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, DOC Prosecco focuses on accessible, everyday sparklers that prioritise immediate drinkability over complexity or ageing potential.
