"Blend of three elevated plots, with a small amount of chaptalisation. Earthy and serious, with blueberries, blackberries and raspberries alongside an under-ripe cherry note. Very round on the palate, medium intensity, understated rather than expressive."
Ksenia Pashkova, Club Merchandiser
An action-packed, fast-paced tasting at Domaine Rapet this year. The 2024 vintage was defined by a good September but very small quantities. Sulphur is used only after malolactic fermentation, and the approach here remains resolutely traditional.
The wines show bright acidity, modest extraction and clarity of fruit rather than power. Whites lean towards green apple, fennel and mineral tension, while the reds favour crunch, florality and savoury detail. Nothing feels pushed, and several wines are clearly built for ageing rather than early charm.
What the critics say:
"Rapet’s blended Aloxe village is less fragrant than the Belles Filles bottling, but it has more substance – the winemaker says it's 'chewier'. Plummy fruit comes through on the palate, balancing the firm tannins. The grapes are from three lieux-dits, Les Combes between the hill of Corton and the Bois de Noël, and Citernes and Bouthières, a bit further into the plain. The overall effect is lovely and should age gracefully."
