Tucked away in the rolling hills of Treiso, in the heart of Barbaresco country, Orlando Abrigo is a small, family-run estate that perfectly captures the soul of Piedmont. The story begins with Giovanni Abrigo in the 1960s, but it’s Giovanni’s son, Orlando, who transformed the family’s humble vineyards into a serious winemaking venture, pouring his energy into refining vineyard practices and cellar techniques. Today, the next generation—Orlando’s son Giorgio—is at the helm, carrying forward the family legacy with quiet confidence and a clear eye for detail.

The estate’s vineyards stretch across some of the region’s finest hillside plots, including parcels in the revered Montersino cru, where Nebbiolo thrives on steep slopes of marl and limestone. Sustainability is second nature here, and there’s a thoughtful, hands-on approach to everything they do—minimal intervention in the cellar, careful vineyard management, and a real respect for the rhythms of the land.

Orlando Abrigo wines are unmistakably Piedmontese but never austere—refined, expressive, and inviting, with a genuine sense of place. The Barbaresco CN Centoundici, for example, is a standout: elegant, finely structured, and full of character, offering a taste of Barbaresco that’s both classic and completely unforced.

At Honest Grapes, we love working with winemakers like the Abrigos—small estates with big hearts, where tradition meets quiet innovation, and every bottle tells a story worth sharing.
