The Clemens Busch Trockenbeerenauslese 2018 is an iconic late-harvest Riesling from the steep, biodynamically farmed Pündericher Marienburg vineyard in the Mosel. Unlike regular wines, Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) denotes that the grapes were individually hand-selected as botrytised, shrivelled "dry" berries with extreme sugar concentration - the highest level of Prädikat vine selection in German wine.
Clemens Busch is one of the Mosel’s leading growers, known for biodynamic viticulture and a precise, terroir-driven approach.
What the critics say:
"Savoury nose followed by an abundance of aromatic monoterpenes, rosemary, and dates, with the aroma gradually becoming more citrusy with aeration. Peppery and mineral on the palate, good depth of structure, flint notes, and harmonious viscosity. Harmonious, persistent. Superb!"
"Busch's golden-yellow colored 2018 Marienburg Trockenbeerenauslese is generously rich yet fine on the precise and elegant nose that displays tropical fruit aromas with lemon rind and bitter orange notes. Round and smooth on the dense and viscous palate, structure by delicate, crystalline and salty acidity, this is a stimulating, highly finessed and perfectly balanced TBA that drinks stunningly fast despite its delicate richness and sweetness. Swallowing is a pure reflex here, and this is something very rare in this category. 6% alcohol. Tasted from vat 1890 in July 2020."
