Rothenpfad was mentioned in the historic Mosel wine map as among the best in the region. The red slate that dominates here provides the wines with a herbal-spicy note, balanced with a definite off-dry note. The Rothenpfad 'Reserve' receives extra ageing and selection above the standard Grosses Gewächs bottling.

The 2024 Mosel vintage was marked by a challenging season and low yields, but the quality is high. The wines are fresh and precise, with bright acidity and moderate alcohol.

"The Marienburg Rothenpfad 2023 >reserve<, as it is referred to on the central part of the label, was fermented spontaneously in traditional oak casks with fruit harvested in an iron-rich part of the Marienburg vineyard and left on its lees for 24 months before being bottled. This white-yellow colored wine offers a superb nose made of gooseberry, mint, passion fruit, white flowers, and whipped cream. It is beautifully playful and elegant on the palate and leaves a stunning feel of herbal fruits and minerals in the impeccably balanced finish. This is a great expression of Riesling in the making."
