Clemens and his wife Rita are a humble yet hugely respected duo, having built a cult following over the past 30 years for their incredibly precise, richly textured, and terroir-driven wines. In the world of Riesling, the Mosel is king, and their wines capture its essence like no other.
Falkenlay sits on grey slate and is home to Clemens’ most textured, full-bodied wines. It’s also where you’ll find the estate’s crown jewels, Raffes and Felsterrasse.
Since 2015, Clemens Busch has been part of Respekt, a group of biodynamic winemakers. Clemens has however been ahead of the game for decades—he ditched herbicides back in 1976 and embraced organic viticulture long before it became mainstream. Nowhere else is the connection between vine, winemaker, and terroir so perfectly expressed—and honestly, we’ve yet to find Rieslings quite like these.

Not as succulent as many top Auslese from the 2023 vintage, but enormously concentrated, and it turns ever cooler and drier as it flows over the palate. "The Marienburg 2023 Auslese Falkenlay, as it is referred to on the central part of the label, is a full sweet wine with a magnificently layered and finely fresh and even herbal nose of jasmine, almond cream, greengage, spices, smoke, and marzipan. The wine shows all its richness on the palate, where intense, ripe, and elegant creamy and hugely juicy flavors of almond cream, coconut, apricot flower, mango, tangerine, honeyed yellow peach, and acacia. There is viscous and creamy presence, which are superbly balanced out by juicy, ripe acidity in the very long finish. This is a grandiose Auslese!"
"The 2023 Pündericher Marienburg Falkenlay Auslese has notes of peach skin with an almond streak on the nose. The palate is absolutely compact, with a dollop of sweet citric elegance and a smooth, creamy dot of brightness that expands like paint on a wet sheet of paper, coloring everything in citrus. So balanced, so pure, so exquisite. (Sweet) "
