In 2023, Guillaume Tardy began the harvest on September 11, seizing the warm, dry window before rain arrived. This vintage also marked a new chapter for the estate, with Tardy introducing a gentle destemmer designed to preserve the integrity of each grape without breaking the skins, resulting in wines with refined perfumes and softer tannins. The 2023s show a shift toward elegance and suppleness, moving away from previous vintages' emphasis on power.

"Light red cherry, wild strawberries, and red floral aromas define the bouquet. On the palate, wild strawberries dominate, supported by gentle tannins and light spices. Aged in 35% new oak."
Our note

The grapes were picked at optimal ripeness with sugar levels between 12.5-13% and a pH of 3.4-3.5. Yields averaged 45-48 Hl/Ha, except for Échezeaux at 40 Hl/Ha. Bottling is expected in February. By contrast, 2024 yielded just 53 barrels (compared to 120 in 2023), as difficult growing conditions took a toll, although quality remains promising.

What the critics say:

90-92/100Neal Martin, Vinous

"The 2023 Vosne-Romanée Vigneux has an open-knit, vibrant, clean and precise bouquet with vivacious red cherry and raspberry scents. The palate is well balanced with a sensual entry and smooth tannins. It doesn't have a great deal of depth or grip, but it slips down the throat easily with just a touch of tobacco on the finish. This is lovely. "

17.5/20Jancis Robinson

"Solid with both fruit and concentration. Pure pleasure! Much less tough and hard than I remember wines from this producer. Very well done."

92/100Christy Canterbury MW, Tim Atkin
