"From a lieu-dit just below the premier crus, and again only a single barrel made. Picked by Pierre’s own team, with harvest timing decided parcel by parcel. Deeper and darker than many Volnays, this is savoury and slightly brooding, with tannins that sit quietly in the background, giving shape without heaviness. A more serious, contemplative Volnay."

Old vines are the quiet backbone of Pierre Meurgey’s négoce range, and in a demanding vintage like 2024, that pedigree really mattered. Losses were stark in places, with no Mâconnais at all this year, but patience paid off. A dry, sunny finish allowed for long hang times and full physiological ripeness, with very little botrytis to contend with. The result is a set of wines that favour freshness, clarity and site expression, reminiscent of other testing but rewarding years such as 2021.
