Tondonia has become a massive hit with Club Members over a string of super vintages, and the 2012 is another beautifully balanced Rioja. Tim Atkin MW has already awarded an impressive 95 points, and for just £27 a bottle, this Spanish "First Growth" offers unbeatable bang for your buck!
A warm, dry growing season, the 2012 Riojas possess incredible power and concentration, though Tondonia's savoury, high-toned style is still very much on display. The Reserva is up there with some of the best value, age-worthy reds around, and with the estate having done much of the maturation for you, expect this to be drinking beautifully from release.

"Viña Tondonia can seem austere in its (comparative) youth, especially when compared with sweeter Bosconia, but this is a wine that will reward patience. Picked earlier to assuage the effects of a warmer site, this blend of Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha and 5% each of Graciano and Mazuelo is structured and focused, with redcurrant, forest floor and green herb notes. Give it time. 2025-32."
