The Vigne Surrau "Barriu" is a complex and elegant red wine from Sardinia, Italy, made under the Isola dei Nuraghi IGT classification, which allows for a blend of both native and international grape varieties. This wine is crafted from a blend of Cannonau (Grenache), Carignano (Carignan), and Bordeaux varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah), creating a rich and layered wine that reflects the diverse terroir of Sardinia, combining local character with a touch of international flair.
"Barriu" pairs beautifully with rich, hearty dishes such as roasted lamb, beef stew, game meats, and braised short ribs. It also complements aged cheeses, grilled vegetables, and dishes with earthy and savoury elements, such as truffle-based recipes and mushroom risottos.
Drinking window: 2020 - 2030
What the critics say:
"A really beautiful red that shows bay leaf, Thai basil, tangerines and fresh blueberries. Medium to full body, a structured tannin backbone and really tangy acidity. Beautiful. Drink now or hold."
