Est. delivery in Autumn, 2026

Valdicava sits firmly among the top producers of Brunello, with Vincenzo Abruzzese — whose grandfather was one of the original growers — pushing the estate to its current heights.

Single-vineyard bottlings like Montosoli tend to show more finesse and mineral lift, while the estate Brunello is broader and more powerful. Across the range, the common thread is meticulous selection and a willingness to declassify in weaker years, resulting in wines that are consistently structured, expressive and built for the long haul.

What the critics say:

99/100James Suckling

"Stunning aromas of beautifully ripe sangiovese with cherries, berries, cedar, sandalwood and orange and lemon blossoms. Medium- to full-bodied with a tannin structure that builds on the palate and ends with intensity and clarity. Muscular but agile. Best after 2029, but already a star of the vintage."

96/100Eric Guido, Vinous

"The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino boasts wildly expressive aromatics-violets, fresh strawberries, nuances of menthol and pine with wet stone in the background. This is pure, deep and potent with sweet inner lavender tones complementing red and blueberry fruits, and a core of vibrant acidity. A web of fine tannins adds form through the structured but balanced close, leaving a tart blackberry twang and a pleasantly bitter punctuation. The 2021 is expertly balanced and poised for a beautiful evolution over the next decade or more."

OUR GROWERS

Valdicava

Robert Parker asserts, "a strong argument can be made that Valdicava is among the top three or four Brunello di Montalcino producers." Valdicava's Brunellos offer a rare opportunity for the fine wine collector. Valdicava retains two of Italy's best wine consultants, winemaker Attilio Pagli and agronomist Andrea Paoletti and even in a strong vintage produces only 5000 cases of wine.
