The 2020 Solei Terre Alfieri Arneis from Pescaja is a vibrant and expressive white wine from Piedmont's Terre Alfieri region. Crafted from 100% Arneis grapes, it offers a delightful bouquet of ripe stone fruits like peach and apricot, complemented by hints of medlar and plum. Delicate white floral notes add an elegant touch to its aromatic profile.

On the palate, this wine is soft, fresh, and persistent, showcasing a harmonious balance between its fruity character and refreshing acidity. A subtle vanilla nuance lingers on the finish, a result of partial aging in new barriques, though the majority of the wine is matured in stainless steel to preserve its crispness.

Certified Kosher and produced using organic practices, the 2020 Solei Arneis is versatile and food-friendly. It pairs wonderfully with dishes like veal in tuna sauce (vitello tonnato), pasta with creamy sauces, or simply enjoyed on its own as a refreshing aperitif.

This 2020 Arneis is drinking beautifully now at six years old, showing full integration of its fruit and oak elements. The wine will hold its charm until 2028 but won't improve significantly with further aging - Arneis is best enjoyed for its youthful exuberance rather than cellar development. The stone fruit character may become more honeyed over the next year or two before beginning to fade.

Food Pairings

In Piedmont, this style of Arneis would traditionally accompany the region's famous vitello tonnato - thin slices of veal in tuna and caper sauce. Local cooks also pair it with agnolotti del plin in butter and sage, fresh white truffles over pasta, or simply with a selection of local cheeses like Robiola di Roccaverano. The wine's freshness cuts through rich, creamy preparations whilst its fruit complements delicate flavours.
