"Just one 450-litre barrel produced, fully destemmed. Classic Savigny in profile, with fleshy purple fruit, floral lift and an easy charm that never feels simple. There’s generosity here, but also balance and poise, making this immediately appealing and deeply drinkable."
Stewart Pryce, Honest Grapes Wine Club Manager
Old vines are the quiet backbone of Pierre Meurgey’s négoce range, and in a demanding vintage like 2024, that pedigree really mattered. Losses were stark in places, with no Mâconnais at all this year, but patience paid off. A dry, sunny finish allowed for long hang times and full physiological ripeness, with very little botrytis to contend with. The result is a set of wines that favour freshness, clarity and site expression, reminiscent of other testing but rewarding years such as 2021.
What the critics say:
"**** Three barrels made. A deepish crimson with some fairly luxurious strawberry fruit. Just a little harder edge further back but if and when the fruit surmounts this, then I think Pierre will have managed to make an exciting Savigny with good potential. Drink from 2028-2030. Tasted Oct 2025."
