We recently poured wines from Primosic at a club event, and it landed exactly as you’d hope - confident, characterful, and quietly impressive. From the zesty, mineral-flecked whites to the more textured, contemplative bottles, there’s a thread of purity that runs right through the range. It’s very much a house that lets Friuli do the talking - no bluster, just beautifully judged wines with a sense of place.
In the Case
Primosic, Ribolla Gialla, IGT, 2023: 1x 75cl
From vineyards perched on the Collio hills, where the limestone-rich soils and cool breezes from the Alps give this ancient Friulian variety its distinctive mineral backbone. Their 2023 captures everything we love about Ribolla: that taut, almost saline tension that makes your mouth water, wrapped around bright citrus and delicate white flowers.
Primosic, Friulano, Collio, 2023: 1x 75cl
From the prestigious Collio DOC, this is Friulano with proper structure and personality rather than the dilute versions that flood the market. We find it strikes that lovely balance between immediate charm and enough backbone to reward a few years in bottle.
Primosic, Ribolla di Oslavia Riserva, Collio, 2019: 1x 75cl
One of Friuli's most compelling orange wines, made from indigenous Ribolla Gialla grapes grown on the legendary hillsides of Oslavia. This isn't your grandmother's crisp white wine but something far more ambitious: extended skin contact creates a wine with the grip and structure of a red but the finesse that only comes from centuries of winemaking wisdom in this borderland between Italy and Slovenia.
Primosic, Klin Bianco, Collio, 2020: 1x75cl
This estate has been quietly perfecting their craft in the Collio hills since 1967, where the amphitheatre-like vineyards catch every shift in the alpine breeze. The 2020 brings together Friulano's texture, Pinot Grigio's precision, and Sauvignon Blanc's aromatic lift into something that feels both typically Friulian and distinctly Primosic.
Primosic, Merlot Selection, Collio, 2021: 1x 75cl
From Primosic's prized Collio vineyards, where the Tessicini family has been crafting wines since 1869. This is Friulian Merlot at its most appealing; ripe but restrained, with a silky texture.
Primosic, Metamorfosis, Collio Rosso, 2015: 1x 75cl
The serious side of Collio winemaking, where this respected Slovenian family creates their most ambitious red blend. The 2015 vintage brings together the classic Bordeaux varieties in the rolling hills near the Slovenian border, where the region's famous ponca soils and cool continental climate create wines of surprising elegance and longevity.
