Under the leadership of talented winemakers like Benjamin Leroux and now Paul Zinetti, the domaine emphasises minimal intervention in both the vineyard and the cellar. Hand-harvesting, natural fermentations, and careful oak aging create wines that balance power, elegance, and precision, with remarkable aging potential and complexity.
Pommard Premier Cru Clos des Épeneaux, the flagship wine of the estate, is celebrated for its intensity, structure, and ability to age for decades.
Comte Armand is one of Tim Atkin's Top 10 Côte de Beaune Red Wine Producers.
What the critics say:
"The 2024 Pommard Clos des Epeneaux ler Cru was reduced to two lots in this vintage due to mildew and poor flowering. Completely destemmed this year, it has a very attractive nose with a mixture of red and black fruit, mint, fennel and light graphite scents. Good intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant, fluid tannins that render this a more curvy Clos des Epeneaux, a silver thread of acidity lending tension, quite peppery and symmetrical with a sustained finish. Good energy, this is a successful Clos des Epeneaux with the potential to age with grace."
"Just the blend tasted rather than individual components, as Paul was only able to make one and a half tanks. This is the blend including press wine. Not the deepest in colour, an attractive crimson to ruby robe. However, the bouquet is much lither than the Fremiets as the purity and class of Epenots come into play. The same is true on the palate, a very evenly spaced pure red fruit right across the piece, with a long and strikingly elegant, harmonious finish. Drink from 2030-2037. Tasted Oct 2025. *4/5 stars*"
"Soaring from the glass with licorice, blood orange, toast and milk chocolate, this is heady with vibrant character. The palate feels creamy and ample, nicely balanced by the Clos’ characteristically sinewy, Pommardian tannins. Crackling acidity lights up the persistent finale. With 5.23 ha, this is one of the largest monopoly vineyards in Burgundy, whether Premier or Grand Cru. Alas, in 2024, it only produced 50 hl plus a bit of quality press juice that was included."
