In 2023, Guillaume Tardy began the harvest on September 11, seizing the warm, dry window before rain arrived. This vintage also marked a new chapter for the estate, with Tardy introducing a gentle destemmer designed to preserve the integrity of each grape without breaking the skins, resulting in wines with refined perfumes and softer tannins. The 2023s show a shift toward elegance and suppleness, moving away from previous vintages' emphasis on power.

Our note
The grapes were picked at optimal ripeness with sugar levels between 12.5-13% and a pH of 3.4-3.5. Yields averaged 45-48 Hl/Ha, except for Échezeaux at 40 Hl/Ha. Bottling is expected in February. By contrast, 2024 yielded just 53 barrels (compared to 120 in 2023), as difficult growing conditions took a toll, although quality remains promising.

"The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Argillats 1er Cru has a clean and transparent bouquet with lifted red berry fruit notes laced with sous-bois scents. It's quite Vosne-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied, poised and focused with a light crunchiness, fine mineralité and another harmonious finish. This is excellent. "
"Interestingly, this is aromatically similar to the Champerrier if perhaps just a bit earthier. There is slightly more volume along with slightly less finesse to the equally overtly mineral-driven flavors that are shaped by admirably fine-grained tannins on the youthfully austere finale the exhibits even better length.
