Kaapzicht Shiraz displays a deep purple core that fades slightly to a ruby rim. The wine opens with sweet floral perfume, developing further to reveal wild bramble, mulberry, spicy rhubarb and liquorice. The palate is generous and juicy, but also quite focussed and elegant, with harmonious, well integrated oak, and a clean, appetising and long finish.

Shiraz grows really well on the weathered granite soils at Kaapzicht, giving naturally low yields of perfectly ripe fruit. Fermented in stainless steel then aged in 50% new French oak for 24 months, the result is a stylish Shiraz with enough lift in the finish to avoid being too heavy.

Kaapzicht is a family owned and run wine estate in the Stellenbosch district of South Africa which is situated on the 34° south line of latitude. The name "Kaapzicht" translates as "Cape View" and derives from the fantastic view from the hills of the winery over Cape Town and Table Mountain. The Steytler family has farmed here since 1946, and Danie and his younger brother George are the third generation to run the estate.
