- Roscetto
In 1989, The brothers Renzo and Riccardo Cotarella found the Wine Company Falesco in Montefiascone, in northern Latium, with the aim of recovering the old vine varieties in that area. Their muscular, fruity and full-bodied wines lift the level of Umbrian wines above all thanks to an enologist like Riccardo Cotarella, who is the standard bearer of wines made in the area of Orvieto as well as the area itself.
The name Ferentano derives from the archaeological site of Ferento: the ancient Etruscan town, located near the vineyards where the Roscetto grapes grow, used for the production of this wine.
On the nose it presents a rich range of olfactory sensations going from banana to pineapple, from vegetal to vanilla scents. The taste is assertive, rich, soft and full with an excellent long lingering finish.
Drinking window: 2023 - 2028
What the critics say:
"This is incredible, the nose is lovely with great and unique floral notes, Jasmine, white flowers, beeswax, with intense mineral, vanilla, sweet oak, pineapple, hints of banana, lemon, peach, and green notes. The mouth on this full-bodied wine is rich, layered, and extracted, with nice tannin, lovely acidity, great mineral, flint, peach, lemongrass, pineapple, sweet oak, Asian pear, with a lovely viscous body, rich and beautiful, sweet vanilla, grapefruit, honeysuckle, and honeyed quince, just lovely! The finish is long, green, with tannin, tart lime, lemongrass, sweet mint, with flint, and gun smoke, wow!!"
