Donnachiara, Greco di Tufo DOCG, 2022

Donnachiara produces Irpinia’s three DOCG wines, i.e. Fiano di Avellino, Taurasi and Greco di Tufo, as well as the traditional Aglianico and Falanghina wines.

"From the historic Avellino province around 10 miles east of Naples, Donnachiara is a relatively modern operation at nearly 20 years old. Their entire range is superb, but for a summer staple, this Greco di Tufo is tough to beat. With crisp acidity and a whole basket of citrus and orchard fruits, from ripe, zesty lemons, to white peaches to fresh pinapple and a waft of white blossom. There's also stony mineral energy on the palate, with a subtle nutty note on the finish. This is drinking beautifully now, and is sure to stir-up some sunny holiday memories for anyone that's had the pleasure of enjoying a good Greco in their native Campania."

The estate is located in the province of Avellino, a stone’s throw away from Montefalcione, a town that was already powerful under the Etruscans and has a scythe (symbol of farm work) in the municipal coat of arms. Born in 2005, this modern winery boasts vineyards with ancient properties and almost all female management, including the current CEO Ilaria Petitto, who decided to dedicate herself to grape development. Ilaria is supported by her mother Chiara, the niece of Donna Chiara Mazzarelli Petitto, for whom this company is dedicated.
