Domaine Vincent Paris Cornas Granit 30, 2019 is a fresh, expressive Northern Rhône Syrah with plenty of character. From younger vines on granite slopes, it delivers dark berry fruit, violets, black olive and cracked pepper on the nose. The palate is juicy and energetic, with ripe blackberry and plum balanced by bright acidity, fine tannins and a mineral edge. The finish is long, savoury and lightly smoky — classic Cornas but in a more approachable style.
The 2019 vintage was excellent, giving concentrated yet balanced wines with good ageing potential. This bottle is already drinking well with a short decant, but it will develop beautifully over the next 8–10 years.
Vincent Paris is widely regarded as one of the most exciting winemakers in Cornas, working organically and with a gentle hand in the cellar to let terroir shine.
Perfect with roast lamb, steak, game or charred seasonal vegetables.
What the critics say:
"Deep ruby. Spice-accented aromas of blackberry, violet and smoky minerals, with a hint of olive in the background. Concentrated yet lively on the palate, offering pliant dark berry, floral pastille and cracked pepper flavors and a salty touch of olive paste. Fleshes out steadily with air and shows fine clarity and appealing sweetness on the long, gently tannic finish. All de-stemmed fruit and no new oak."
"Lovely ripe freshness to the fruit, really bright summer pudding aromas. Mouthcoating fruit and tannin, very fine tannin. Acidity is surprisingly marked. Plenty of ripe tannins, they're quite lively, textural, fruit-derived. Very juicy, very fruity, concentrated and ripe. No great depth, very accessible. 10-year-old vines, all destemmed."
