"Silky and composed, with darker berry fruit and a smooth, flowing texture. Well-balanced and quietly complex."
Stewart Pryce, Honest Grapes Wine Club Manager
Domaine Jean Tardy is a quietly brilliant Côte de Nuits estate, founded by Jean Tardy after years as a share-cropper for Méo-Camuzet, and expanded under his son Guillaume since 1997. The domaine now spans Fixin to Vosne-Romanée, with all wines bottled by individual vineyard.
The 2024 vintage was one of the most challenging since 2013, marked by frost, heavy rainfall and severe mildew pressure, reducing yields to just 18 hl/ha. Picked early to preserve freshness, the resulting wines are delicate, subtle and finely balanced rather than powerful, with clarity of fruit and gentle structure very much to the fore.
Fully destemmed and softly extracted, the reds emphasise aromatic purity and smooth tannins over force. This is a vintage for finesse and drinkability, offering real pleasure across the range.
What the critics say:
"Pale crimson. There is just a little more fruit on the nose, raspberry taking precedence over redcurrant this time. The extra ripeness compared to the Hautes Côtes de Nuits enables the fruit to fill out the mouth very nicely, with a lingering, classy finish. Adequate acidity, covered by the fruit."
