This is Pinot Noir turned introspective lyric - deep, fresh, and elegant, with the kind of delicacy only top Burgundy can deliver. Philippe Pacalet, known for his natural, low-intervention approach, brings the raw essence of the Corton Les Bressandes terroir to the glass, producing wines that feel both refined and uncaged.
The 2021 shows vibrant purple-plum and cherry notes, accented with violet florals, red berries, and a whisper of ripe almond. It carries a sense of minerality and vivid freshness that keeps the finish long and poised.
Philippe Pacalet continues to refine his hallmark style of elegance and purity. In a year characterised by both quality and quantity, his wines reflect exceptional concentration and precision.
What the critics say:
"During COVID, the Pacalet family worked the eighty-year-old vines themselves in the Corton-Bressandes plot they rent. The east-facing site, almost directly on the bedrock, has delivered a powerful but elegant wine in 2022, with ripe blackberry fruit coloured with hints of earth, smoke, and leather. This wine is lush and wine, but there is an essential sturdiness to the tannins and fresh acidity that is still very 'Corton' – an excellent introduction to the Pacalet style."
