Sourced from 15 clay-limestone plots in Saumur-Champigny, the Le Clos perfectly balances its crisp fruit with delicate floral and spicy notes.
The Foucault brothers - Charly and Nady - were pioneers of organic viticulture in the Loire, long before it became fashionable, and their low-intervention approach in the cellar has helped define what Saumur-Champigny can be at its finest.
What the critics say:
"The 2015 Saumur Champigny is deep, refined and elegant on the clear and fresh nose that displays very fine dark berry and iodine as well as chalky and herbal aromas. Round, intense and juicy on the palate, with fine tannins and acidity, this is a silky, deep and fleshy, very fine and elegant yet also lush and balanced Cabernet with fine tannins and a long and intense, aromatic finish. 12.5% alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in September 2021."
"A floral, violet bouquet is accompanied by blood-like iron and animal notes. It's a medium-bodied wine with seductive fruit and lots of minty freshness on the palate, with a delicacy to the finish. Remarkably finessed."
