The Clemens Busch Marienburg Riesling Spätlese Goldkapsel is one of the estate’s most expressive sweet wines, drawn from carefully selected grapes grown on the steep slate slopes of the famed Marienburg vineyard in Pünderich; it’s lusciously sweet yet balanced by vibrant acidity, giving it lift and freshness.
The term Spätlese literally means “late harvest” in German, referring to grapes picked later in the season when they’ve developed more sugar and flavour concentration. A 'Goldkapsel' designation signals a special selection from the Spätlese harvest - often made from riper, more concentrated grapes, yielding greater depth, complexity, and intensity.
The 2024 Mosel vintage was marked by a challenging season and low yields, but the quality is high. The wines are fresh, precise and mineral-driven, with bright acidity and moderate alcohol. 2024 is widely regarded as a strong year for Kabinett and lighter Spätlese styles, emphasising elegance, clarity and purity over power.

"The 2024 Pündericher Marienburg Spätlese Goldkapsel was made with minimal botrytis. Slatiness and reduction still define the nose for now. The palate is slow to emerge but in time presents the perfect white peach with red cheeks. It is supremely aromatic, ripe and slightly candied, like someone is very slowly pulling it into focus. The 2024 becomes more and more intense, with ever greater purity. It is outstanding, tender, pure and so very true. This is a sublimation of peach, with exquisite lemon outlines. It is simply stunning and nothing less than dramatic. (Sweet) "
"The Riesling 2024 Marienburg Spätlese, as it is referred to on the main part of the label (the reference to Goldkapsel is written on the side of the label and there is also a golden capsule), is a sweet wine made from a selection of over-ripe but clean fruit. This white-hay-colored wine offers a superb nose made of pear, apple, white peach, passion fruit, herbs, and whipped cream. It proves beautifully playful and elegant on the palate, where the creaminess is enhanced by ripe zest and classy elements of spices. The finish is joyful, yet also superbly chiseled and complex. This is a grandiose expression of Spätlese in the making!"
