The Marienburg vineyard sits at the heart of Germany’s Mosel. This steep, south-facing slope captures maximum sunlight in a cool climate, allowing the grapes to ripen fully while retaining the bright, piercing acidity. Blue and grey slate soils dominate, providing excellent drainage and radiating warmth back to the vines, lending the wine its signature tension and mineral edge. Kabinett Riesling is made from grapes harvested relatively early, resulting in a wine with gentle, medium-dry sweetness and vivid freshness.
The 2024 Mosel vintage was marked by a challenging season and low yields, but the quality is high. The wines are fresh, precise and mineral-driven, with bright acidity and moderate alcohol. 2024 is widely regarded as a strong year for Kabinett, emphasising elegance, clarity and purity over power.
"...the stars of the show in 2024 are the Kabinett and Spätlese!"
Anne Krebiehl, Vinous
Clemens and his wife Rita are a humble yet hugely respected duo, having built a cult following over the past 30 years for their incredibly precise, richly textured, and terroir-driven wines. Produced biodynamically and organically since 1984, they are a compelling choice for Riesling enthusiasts who appreciate a mineral-driven profile.
What the critics say:
"The 2024 Pündericher Marienburg Kabinett was picked on the windy crest of the site. Slate and smoke are tender on the nose. Saltiness and lemon unite on the super-slender palate and make the mouth water immediately. The beautiful ride continues with much elan and delves into freshness, stone and lemony pleasure. (Medium) "
"Graceful peach defines the delicate nose. An airy powdered-sugar sweetness is beautifully integrated with playful acidity and juicy citrus grace. Lime and white flowers. Goes down dangerously like water; the deeper, stony edge and complexity of the Marienburg are suggested but not yet in view."
