Château Haut-Marbuzet is often described as a "Right Bank wine made on the Left Bank" due to its relatively high proportion of Merlot and its lush, fruit-forward style. This makes it more approachable in its youth compared to many other wines from Saint-Estèphe, while still possessing the structure and depth for long-term aging.
The 2017 vintage in Bordeaux was a challenging one, with spring frosts affecting yields, but experienced producers like Haut-Marbuzet were able to craft wines of finesse and balance, particularly in areas like Saint-Estèphe that were less impacted by the frost.
The Château Haut-Marbuzet 2017 is medium-bodied with a well-structured tannic framework, and a long and persistent finish.

What the critics say:
"The 2017 Haut-Marbuzet has a very perfumed bouquet with redcurrant, blackberry and light floral aromas, all enticingly pure, albeit without the complexity of some of the best vintages that I have tasted from this Saint-Estephe cru. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity with good density and grip towards the black pepper tinged finish. Excellent and a wine that is in the mold of previous vintages. "
"A firm and chewy young red with a solid center palate of berry and currant character. Fresh finish."
