"A more structured take on Chambolle, shaped by clay soils but softened by the house style. Succulent red fruit and beautifully rounded tannins."
Stewart Pryce, Honest Grapes Wine Club Manager
Domaine Jean Tardy is a quietly brilliant Côte de Nuits estate, founded by Jean Tardy after years as a share-cropper for Méo-Camuzet, and expanded under his son Guillaume since 1997. The domaine now spans Fixin to Vosne-Romanée, with all wines bottled by individual vineyard.
The 2024 vintage was one of the most challenging since 2013, marked by frost, heavy rainfall and severe mildew pressure, reducing yields to just 18 hl/ha. Picked early to preserve freshness, the resulting wines are delicate, subtle and finely balanced rather than powerful, with clarity of fruit and gentle structure very much to the fore.
Fully destemmed and softly extracted, the reds emphasise aromatic purity and smooth tannins over force. This is a vintage for finesse and drinkability, offering real pleasure across the range.
What the critics say:
"Enough wood to mention is present on the airy and perfumed nose of the essence of red currant, spice and violet aromas. The sappy and delicious flavors possess a noticeably finer texture as well as an equally subtle bead of minerality on the sneaky long and powerful finish. While finer than the Fixin, this is a Chambolle of punch and taut muscularity. Worth checking out provided you're willing to give it a few years in the cellar. *Outstanding*"
