Located in the heart of Chablis, Jean, son of Marius and Agnès Collet, founded Domaine Jean Collet in 1952. They look after around 40 hectare of vines that are spread over the best slopes of the right and left bank of the Serein. Their old vines are averaging 91 years old, which truly reflect the unique, rich sub soils and mineral strata that Chablis provides.
The domaine features as one of the Top 20 Chablis Producers in Tim Atkin's Burgundy 2023 Special Report.
What the critics say:
"Impressively fresh and pure on the nose, this mixes in all sorts of all citrus fruit. Zingy acidity pumps energy into the medium body showcasing a soft, silky texture. This is vinified in oak with about five percent new wood before going into tank. The tension is real, so give this at least four to five years."
"More subtle though still easily perceptible oak influence is present on the more floral-suffused aromas that feature notes of Granny Smith apple, spice, wet stone and a whiff of iodine. The mouthfeel of the middle weight flavors is notably finer, though not denser, while retaining good delineation to the stony and sleek finale. This is still quite primary though if it can add depth with a few years of bottle age, it should be quite good."
