Est. delivery in autumn, 2026

Famously the first Brunello to makes it ways onto the Bordeaux-based negociant system La Place, Poggio Antico was acquired by a Belgian investor in 2017 who has spared no expense in trying to push the estate to the front rank of Montalcino, and they are very much succeeding.

Their 'Vigna I Poggi' is made from Sangiovese grapes grown in the estate’s “I Poggi” vineyard — one of its highest and most distinctive sites at about 550–570 m above sea level on west-facing slopes in Montalcino.

What the critics say:

96/100Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

"Striking terrific balance of intensity and brightness, the certified organic Poggio Antico 2021 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna i Poggi delivers energy and verve across a long, polished palate supported by elegant, finely tuned tannins. Nothing feels out of place in this focused and harmonious expression, which combines power and restraint. This non-filtered wine comes from a single vineyard that was selected after a detailed mapping project identified the estate’s finest sites. Production is limited to 10,544 bottles."

OUR GROWERS

Poggio Antico

Poggio Antico occupies an enviable spot to the south of Montalcino. The vineyard is one of the highest in Montalcino at 480m above sea level, and this allied to the cooling coastal breeze means the fruit always retains its characteristic freshness and vivacity during the warm Italian summers.
