Valdicava are firmly in the top echelon of Brunello, with Vincenzo Abruzzese, whose grandfather was one of the original growers, propelling the estate to the stratosphere.
Only around 5000 cases are made each year across the portfolio and the dedication to quality is second to none.
What the critics say:
"Aromas of minerals, ripe fruit, a delicate floral character. On the palate it is fresh and fabulous with a long finish. Lots going on here."
"The 2005 Brunello di Montalcino has aged very well. A dark, almost black wine, the 2005 exudes depth, the result of a cool year with thickskinned grapes. A host of black cherry, plum, smoke and licorice open up in a big, concentrated Brunello that showcases the house style very nicely. This is a strong showing for the vintage."
