For decades Boekenhoutskloof has set the benchmark for quality in Stellenbosch, widely admired for wines that combine bold fruit, intelligent structure and a unique sense of place.
The grapes for the Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon come from selected Stellenbosch sites, notably the north-west facing slopes of the Helderberg and the south-east slopes of the Polkadraai/Vlottenburg hills. Decomposed granite, sandstone and koffieklip soils, tempered by cool maritime influence from False Bay, encourage balanced ripening, concentration and a distinctive graphite-tinged minerality.
What the critics say:
"Gottfried Mocke bled off 30% of the juice on this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc in 2023 to concentrate what was left behind in a lighter vintage. Curated in 60% new oak, it combines aromas of mint, fynbos ad coffee bean with a refined, sappy, nicely delineated palate of bramble, blueberry and blackcurrant leaf and a fresh, focused finish."
