Domaine de Montille is one of Burgundy’s most revered estates and this burgeoning family property is very much at the top of its game, producing wines of exceptional quality: scintillating, proper Burgundies, unusually across both reds and whites.
The 2021 vintage, despite some challenges, produced well-structured wines with good acidity and aging potential.
What the critics say:
"From deeper clay soil with some limestone. Decent tension and sapidity. An earthy richness comes under the palate. Sieve does a small crush and says picking early is important here."
"There is still some post-bottling reduction and sulfur that dominates the underlying fruit. The round, plump and quite fleshy middleweight flavors exude a subtle minerality while displaying good if not special vibrancy on the bitter lemon zest-suffused finish that could also use better depth. Note that this could easily be enjoyed young."
