The Billaud family, one of the oldest winemaking clans in Chablis, has been synonymous with the region's winemaking heritage for generations. After two decades of honing his craft as a winemaker within the family estate, Samuel Billaud embarked on a journey to create his own winemaker's house.

Samuel Billaud now sits unambiguously at the very top table of Chablis. Neal Martin put it bluntly: “Samuel Billaud is one of the most exciting winemakers in Chablis… Would I put him in the same tier as Vincent Dauvissat and Raveneau? I would.” That is not casual praise, and it reflects what we see year after year in the glass – wines of completeness, precision and quiet authority.

The Wine

Since 2015, Domaine Samuel Billaud has worked from a purpose-built winery designed to unite traditional know-how with modern precision, using gravity flow, advanced presses and careful sorting to express each parcel clearly. In the vineyards, Billaud follows organic principles, low yields and meticulous hand harvesting, with an emphasis on soil health and biodiversity.

This disciplined, detail-driven approach results in Chablis wines of purity and definition, closely reflecting their sites and the long-standing traditions of the region.
