We’ve long been fans of Lyme Bay Winery, a small but mighty team nestled in Devon’s idyllic Axe Valley who are quietly (and now not so quietly) putting English wine on the world stage.
Over the last 30 years, Lyme Bay has carved out a reputation for crafting exceptional still and sparkling wines with a fresh, modern edge. They’ve racked up a seriously impressive trophy cabinet along the way, with wins at the International Wine Challenge, IWSC, and Decanter World Wine Awards.
What really makes Lyme Bay stand out is their unique approach to sourcing top-quality grapes from across the best vineyards in southern England: Essex, Kent, Herefordshire and beyond. And 2025 has been a landmark year. Lyme Bay made history as the first English winery to scoop IWC Gold trophies for both red and white wines in the same year. Their Martin’s Lane Estate Chardonnay 2020 and Pinot Noir 2021 stole the show. Hats off to them!
