Our tastings over the coming weeks and months will reveal more about the 2025 vintage but William Kelley, in a blog post for US importer Thatcher’s Wine, tantalises us with his comment “for much of the growing season, the 2025 vintage was picture perfect, the clone of 1865—probably the best vintage in Burgundy’s last 200 or so years”, continuing “I’m tempted to compare [the wines] to the 2002s, even if they’re the result of an entirely different growing season”. Given the reputation and quality of 2002 – this is most welcome as we could be on for an exceptional vintage: With small, intensely coloured berries producing wines packed with flavour and colour, yet beautifully poised and fresh — a genuine 'vintage for the cellar'.

We get just one or two magnum cases of Jane Eyre's cuvées each vintage, which always leaves us short for her loyal supporters, and 2025, by early accounts a small but likely brilliant year, is only going to sharpen that scarcity. Jeroboams (3L) and methuselahs (6L) have always been available on request, but only ever for her Hospices de Beaune cuvées. This year, for the second time, Jane's opened a short window for large format requests right across the range.

This really is the first and only chance to put in a large format order. We need to confirm everything with Jane by Thursday, ahead of her bottling. Magnums of Jane's wines are rare in any year; in a small vintage like 2025 there will be fewer still on general release. Jeroboams and methuselahs, hand-bottled to order, will be genuine cellar centrepieces.
