Domaine Georges Noëllat is one of Burgundy's most revered producers, with top scores from critics such as Allen Meadows, Neal Martin and Jasper Morris. The small estate is meticulously cared for by Maxime Cheurlin, who has elevated the Domaine to be one of the best in Burgundy. Maxime’s training included stints at Domaine Emmanuel Rouget and Gros Fere et Souer and his own style is one of pure elegance!

A treasure in the Honest Grapes collection, Georges Noëllat holds exceptional quality at a really affordable price point. Our Wine Gurus are big fans of Maxime’s wines, and it’s a pleasure to share them with Club Members.

Despite owning vines since the 1920s, following a tumultuous period in the family, Georges Noëllat sold their grapes to the likes of Jadot and Drouhin in 1990, though in 2010, a fresh-faced 20-year old Maxime Cheurlin took over the estate from his grandmother and set about turning this from a virtually unknown domaine to the stratospheric heights it has now reached. The rise of Georges Noëllat cannot be overstated; this is one of the most in-demand domaines in the entire region and for good reason.

The Wine

The estate is small, spanning just 5.5 hectares, and holds some of the most hallowed plots in Vosne Romanee and Nuits Saint Georges with very old vines. They need special care and attention, so Maxime only intervenes if absolutely necessary to save them, otherwise, nature is left to run its course and to wonderful effect.

Georges Noellat has vines in some of Vosne-Romanée's finest domains, plus Echézeaux and Grands Echézeaux, including an incredible collection of 80-year-old Pinot Noir vines in premier cru Les Beaux Monts!
